Shane Dunphy

Vasectomy

MBChB, Dip Obst, DCH, FRNZCGP

Shane graduated from the University of Otago in 1983 and has completed postgraduate diplomas in Obstetrics and Child Health. He is also a Fellow of the Royal NZ College of General Practitioners.

He has special interests in child health, geriatric medicine and minor surgery including vasectomies.

In addition, he is involved in the training of medical students from the Wellington School of Medicine where he holds a position as Senior Clinical Lecturer.

Shane is married with a daughter at university. In his spare time he enjoys walking, cooking and tennis.

Sam McConville

Vasectomy

MBChB, DCH, MRNZCGP

Sam graduated from the University of Otago in 2016 and completed a postgraduate diploma in Child Health in 2020. He has worked in various hospital specialties’, including paediatrics and anaesthesia before moving to general practice in 2022.

His other professional interests include providing medical care at endurance and extreme sports events around Aotearoa, and training medical students at the Wellington School of Medicine.

Outside of medicine Sam enjoys exploring trails around Te Whanganui-a-Tara, photography, music and spending time with his young whānau.

Grant Russell

Urology

Grant has provided Urological Services to the Kapiti Coast for many years.

His practice is based in Wellington, and he undertakes regular clinics on the Kapiti Coast at Kapiti Day Hospital.

His areas of interest include: Prostate Disease: Prostate Cancer and Benign Prostate Disease; Urinary Stone Disease; Overactive Bladder; Bladder Cancer; Testicular/Penile problems; Vasectomy/Vasectomy reversal.

Richard Evans

We welcome Richard Evans to our specialist team at Kapiti Day Hospital.

Richard is a vascular, endovascular and transplant surgeon and at Kapiti is available for consultations, varicose vein treatments and vascular ultrasound scans.

Rita Yang

Skin Cancer Clinic

MBChB, FRACS (Plast)

Dr Rita Yang is a plastic and reconstructive surgeon who has been in practice since 2019, based at Wakefield Specialist Medical Centre, Wellington.

Rita attended medical school in New Zealand and subsequently trained in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in New Zealand. She is originally from Taiwan and is a fluent speaker of Chinese.

Rita has a monthly See & Treat skin cancer clinic at Kapiti Day Hospital.

Simon Scheck

Gynaecology

FRANZCOG MBBS PhD

Simon is a specialist gynaecologist (and obstetrician) trained in Wellington. In addition to Cycles Gynaecology, Simon works as an obstetrician and gynaecologist at Hutt and Wellington Hospitals, as a proceduralist at Fertility Associates, and as a Senior Lecturer at the University of Otago. He has a special interest in minimally invasive gynaecology surgery (currently undergoing the AGES accredited training program in advanced minimally invasive surgery) as well as endometriosis and persistent pelvic pain.
